Days 19 to 25 on my 22′ Rocky Mountain tour. Still on two wheels, just with half a horsepower this time.

Bike Week 2022 grew out of an idea from our friends in Fort Collins, to descend upon their house for a week and ride the most epic trails we could until our legs turned to rubber. 5 of us showed up and the inaugural event was a great success. I know you’re expecting a plethora of photos, but I turned down the photo effort a bit this week and just enjoyed riding the mountain bike.
We went to Trestle Bike Park the first day, and I nearly died twice hitting and landing some jump lines for the first time. Rainmaker was the highlight trail of the day, and you can enjoy this OTHER person’s video I found on Youtube showing off the trail. I don’t think I was nearly this fast, or got this much air, and I was definitely much harder on the brakes the entire time, but I promise I had as much fun or more than this:
I didn’t even take a single photo of myself at Trestle, for shame. I DID take a lot of memories though. I highly recommend it and it was worth every penny of the $69 ticket fee.
We also hit some local trails and did some multi thousand foot climbs, back to back, day to day. Jelly legs, remember?

Near Halls Ranch by Lyons we dodged thunderstorms, RATTLESNAKES, and tried to keep the sun out of our sweaty eyes.

Do you like slick wet rock with gravel mixed in? And SNAKES? I do it was great.

Legs properly destroyed, I took an off day to accept the offer of riding my bud’s FZ-09. A Yamaha 900c triple cylinder with full exhaust etc. This thing ripped harder than a Tegaderm bandage off road rash.

It made me miss my ZX-6R a lot, but it was good to get the speed out of my system. This bike made the V-Strom look and feel like a pack mule which… well it is a pack mule, I’d like to see an FZ-09 load up with everyone I had and hustle as hard.
It was a great week with great food and friends, hitting the best trails in Colorado on mountain bikes that cost more than my V-Strom. Life goals are being met, yessir.
We even hit Valmont Bike Park to practice the jump lines. Unfortunately, my Tender Jewels were a bit beat up from the long day at Trestle plus back-to-back thousand+ foot climbs, so I was strictly in photography mode.

Smiles all around, and mission accomplished. Two wheels are a good time no matter how you cut it.
